"Powerful and persuasive..."
- Howard Zinn, Author, A People's History of the United States

UNCOUNTED is an explosive new documentary that shows how the election fraud that changed the outcome of the 2004 election led to even greater fraud in 2006 - and now looms as an unbridled threat to the outcome of the 2008 election. This controversial feature length film by Emmy award-winning director David Earnhardt examines in factual, logical, and yet startling terms how easy it is to change election outcomes and undermine election integrity across the U.S. Noted computer programmers, statisticians, journalists, and experienced election officials provide the irrefutable proof.

UNCOUNTED shares well documented stories about the spine-chilling disregard for the right to vote in America. In Florida, computer programmer Clint Curtis is directed by his boss to create software that will "flip" votes from one candidate to another. In Utah, County Clerk Bruce Funk is locked out of his office for raising questions about security flaws in electronic voting machines. Californian Steve Heller gets convicted of a felony after he leaks secret documents detailing illegal activities committed by a major voting machine company. And Tennessee entrepreneur, Athan Gibbs, finds verifiable voting a hard sell in America and dies before his dream of honest elections can be realized.

UNCOUNTED is a wakeup call to all Americans. Beyond increasing the publics awareness, the film inspires greater citizen involvement in fixing a broken electoral system. As we approach the decisive election of 2008, UNCOUNTED will change how you feel about the way votes are counted in America.

Canvass for Barack Obama and Sam Rasoul in Strasburg, VA

Canvass for Barack Obama and Sam Rasoul in Strasburg, VA
Carpool - One hour west of Vienna Metro Station in NOVA
Saturday, October 25 (details below)

Dear Howard,

This may be the single most effective thing you can do to help elect Obama and pick up a new Democratic seat in Congress.  Come help us canvass in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley this Saturday, October 25. (one hour west of Vienna Metro in NOVA)

Last week I went to a fundraiser for Sam Rasoul, progressive Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 6th District; and I was totally blown away by the candidate and the polling results there.  Sam is the youngest candidate for Congress in the country, and he is an amazingly eloquent, likable, persuasive candidate who is on the verge of pulling off a most unlikely upset against a Republican incumbent.  Sam is magnetic, and his fast-rising support in the traditionally Republican Shenandoah Valley makes it clear that he is going to be a rising star in the Democratic Party.  You could feel it.  This guy knows how to articulate progressive values and policies to Middle Americans and win them over.

And look at these USA Today poll numbers!  In September in the 6th District, Obama was down 24 points.  In October Obama and McCain are tied at 48%!  Mark Warner is at 60%!  The incumbent Republican Congressman is at 45% support with 16% undecided.  Sam’s campaign is making a huge difference for the whole Democratic ticket, and he is a few points away from an upset win himself.

Come join us in Strasburg, VA on Saturday to knock on doors for Sam and the ticket.

Vote early, vote often -- but above all, vote carefully
Posted October 20, 07:58 a.m. Pacific Time

It seems touch-screen voting machines in West Virginia have minds of their own. According to The Charleston Gazette, early voters in Putnam and Jackson Counties are reporting that when they vote for Democrats, their votes get switched to Republican candidates.

Like 81-year-old Calvin Thomas, who says:

"When I pushed Obama, it jumped to McCain. When I went down to governor's office and punched [Gov. Joe] Manchin, it went to the other dude. When I went ...  > read more here >

Vote-scam fliers target black neighborhoods

"An anonymous flier circulating in African-American neighborhoods in
North and West Philadelphia states that voters who are facing
outstanding arrest warrants or who have unpaid traffic tickets may be
arrested at the polls on Election Day. Deputy Mayor for Public Safety
Everett Gillison... said that the message is completely false."

Vote-scam fliers target black neighborhoods
By CATHERINE LUCEY
Philadelphia Daily News
luceyc@phillynews.com 215-854-4172

With just weeks to go before the presidential election, voter
intimidation has reared its ugly head.

An anonymous flier circulating in African-American neighborhoods in
North and West Philadelphia states that voters who are facing
outstanding arrest warrants or who have unpaid traffic tickets may be
arrested at the polls on Election Day.

Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Everett Gillison, who learned of the
flier last week, said that the message is completely false.

"The only thing that police officers are going to do that we'll be
encouraging that day is that they'll be exercising their own individual
right to vote," Gillison said.

He plans to put up statements on the city and police Web sites to let
citizens know that the handouts are false. He said that he also will
record a public-service announcement for broadcast.

Gillison referred the matter to the U.S. Attorney's Office and the
district attorney.

"We are not going to stand for any intimidation of voters," Gillison
said. "Not in this city."

He said that he did not know who was behind the fliers, which appear to
be targeted at supporters of Democratic candidate Barack Obama.

But telling people to beware of voting if they have outstanding warrants
is an old trick. In Maryland's 2002 gubernatorial election, anonymous
fliers in African-American communities warned people to pay parking
tickets and resolve outstanding warrants before heading to the polls.

"It seems to be clearly aimed at lower-income voters that might have had
some problems in the past and clearly aimed at discouraging people from
voting," said Zack Stalberg, who heads the political-watchdog group
Committee of Seventy.

Stalberg said that he feared that there could be more fliers to come.

"I'm a little surprised it appeared this far before Election Day," he
said. "It's another indication of how dirty this election might become."

Local NAACP President Jerry Mondesire said that he was aware of the
flier and would be watching for other intimidation efforts, but would
wait until closer to Election Day to reach out to the public.

"We probably will do something closer to the election," he said. "People
tend not to pay attention until two weeks out."

Mondesire said that he didn't know who was circulating the fliers, but
added, "I do know one thing for sure: They're not Democrats." *

Maryland Says NO Blank Check Bailout

Senate approves “Rescue Plan”—Sells Out to Greedy Fat Cats
Help us Hold the Line in the House of Representatives TODAY!

We desperately need your help! The Senate put some "lipstick on it" and passed the bailout bill. We have a second chance to defeat it in the House; the vote is expected by Friday.

We’re partnering with True Majority, USAction, and Democrats.com to defeat the Wall St. bailout. We want a Fair Deal for Main St., and we’re asking our members to visit their representative’s local office in the next 2 days to get them on record in support of a Fair Deal for Main St.

If your Representative voted YES the first time around, then a chance for redemption exists. This letter is a “request for constituent services” to elicit support for a Fair Deal for Main St. Take it with you and follow these instructions.

If your Representative voted NO last time, leave your thanks, the letter, and ask them to hold firm.

Resources:

  • Find your Representative and local office here.
  • Find out how your representative voted here.
  • Find talking points here.
  • Schedule your visit, or find a scheduled visit in your district, here.
  • Send us a report on your visit, click here.

We can defeat this terrible bailout bill and provide protection for Main St. in these vulnerable times, if we all take action on Wednesday and Thursday.

Yours in the movement,

Tim Carpenter
PDA National Coordinator

more about emma's revolution

emma's revolution is the duo of award-winning, activist musicians, Pat Humphries & Sandy O, who write songs that become traditions. Their song, "If I Give Your Name" won Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest John Lennon Songwriting Contest and their music has been featured on NPR's "All Things Considered" and Pacifica's "Democracy Now!" "Peace, Salaam, Shalom" is sung around the world and has been called the "anthem of the anti-war movement." "Keep On Moving Forward" opened the NGO Forum at the UN Fourth World Conference on Women in Bejiing, becoming the unofficial theme of the Conference.

emma's revolution's latest cd, "roots, rock & revolution" has been called "Inspiring, gutsy and rockin'!" and includes "Silence & Lies" which is featured in the new documentary, "Finding Our Voices".

In the spirit of Emma Goldman's famous attribution, "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution," emma's revolution brings their uprising of truth, hope and a dash of healthy irreverance to concerts and peace & justice events across the US (including Camp Casey with Cindy Sheehan and the School of the Americas Watch at Fort Benning, GA). They have performed by invitation at the World Culture Open in Seoul, Korea, the Scottish Parliament's Festival of Politics, Palestine & Israel, and, in December 2007, in Santiago, Chile with Holly Near.

"Across from the White House, we paused... We were arrested several hours later, having sung 'Peace Salaam Shalom' and 'All We Are Saying...' the entire time." ~Alice Walker, Pulitzer Prize Winning Author
