Open to Public: Health Care Event at Towson 10/21

The Health Care and Sciences Association of Towson University (HCSA) has
invited two speakers to discuss the issue of health care in the United
States to Towson students. This presentation aims to educate potential
health care providers and inform potential voters.

Dr. Margaret Flowers and Brigitte Marti run the Maryland chapter of
Physicians for a National Health Program, a 501c3 organization that
educates about health care reform. They participate in Healthcare-Now of
Maryland and are cofounders of the Coalition for Health Security. They
work at state and national levels to advocate for comprehensive health
care reform.

Dr. Flowers and Ms. Marti have participated in panel discussions and
made presentations at Progressive Maryland, Towson Presbyterian Church,
Towson Unitarian Universalist Church, AFSCME local 1535, League of Women
Voters, Goucher College post-Baccalaureate Premed Program and Towson
University Health Policy classes among others. They also organized and
were the moderators of the rally for health care security on Sept 26,2008.

They will discuss the current state of health care and recount a brief
history of health care delivery in the United States. They will present
the principles of health security, followed by a critical review of
reforms, and the implications of the coming election on health care reform.
