PLEASE JOIN US TO CELEBRATE DR. QUENTIN YOUNG'S BIRTHDAY!

Dear Friend,

Dr. Quentin "Forever" Young just turned 87 and we are planning a
fundraiser/birthday celebration in his honor.
We are sending you this special invitation in the hope that you will
join us and bring a friend!

Some of you may already know our beloved Dr. Young. Dr. Young is a
recently retired internist in Chicago, a Clinical Professor of
Preventive Medicine and Community Health at the University of Illinois
Medical Center and Senior Attending Physician at Michael Reese Hospital.
He graduated Northwestern Medical School and did his residency at Cook
County Hospital in Chicago. During the 1970s and early 1980s, he served
as Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at Cook County, where
he helped establish the Department of Occupational Medicine.
In addition to his distinguished career as a physician, Dr. Young has
been a leader in public health policy and medical and social justice
issues. He is a co-founder and medical director of the Medical Committee
for Human Rights. In 1980, Dr.Young founded the Chicago based Health &
Medicine Policy Research Group, of which he is currently Chairman. He is
co-founder and now National Coordinator of Physicians for a National
Health Program. In 1998, he had the special distinction of serving as
President of the American Public Health Association and in 1997 was
inducted as a Master of the American College of Physicians.

In honor of Dr. Young's dedication to educate and advocate for the human
right to health, we are holding events to raise funds for an enhanced
education and outreach project as part of our improved Medicare for All
campaign. The funds will be used for regional leadership trainings to
train hundreds of physicians and medical students each year who will
serve as educators and advocates in their communities for a national
health system which is based on the human rights principles of
universality, equity and accountability. The funds will also be used so
that our leaders will have a greater presence at professional meetings,
will reach out to organizations that serve communities with health
disparities and those with chronic diseases and will have more
opportunities to speak in their communities and to go on speaking tours.
We will also fund student interns to assist state chapters and develop
student chapters.
Also present will be Mr. Ron Hikel, legislative consultant to PNHP and
former administrator of the Canadian Health System. We hope to see you
there!
